The Global Financial Crisis of 2007/2008 started a sustained period of easy money through quantitative easing and low-interest rates which continued through the two years of the COVID pandemic. This has finally ended as inflation has returned to the global economy. This presentation will discuss where global inflation and interest rates might go and look back on previous periods of financial and economic turbulence to see what lessons we can learn from these events. The presentation will address how the economies of Vietnam and other ASEAN countries might best protect themselves from the risks associated with high inflation.
